This recent discovery of a neighborhood is vital as it is historic. First inhabited by the families of industrial workers, Dogpatch survived the 1906 earthquake far more intact than almost any other neighborhood. In 2002, this newly invigorated part of town was officially designated a historic district of the city of San Francisco. Each of the older homes in Central Waterfront is a particular piece of history.
